Convert Symbian UI to iPhone UI

by ali on February 13, 2011

In this article, you will see the closest Symbian can get in copying the UI of the iPhone, yet. Most of you just want to see it happen, while others will even keep this permanently. Personally, I don’t really want to see my phone trying to be like another, but its nice to show-off sometimes, and after a while, I’d just close the application and be content with the regular UI.

But, as I said, some of you would really love this, so now lets get started. This is actually designed by someone called H.Inez and this project is named SPBShell iPhone edition.

Step 1: The Slide to Unlock.

Slide to Unlock

Download ThinkChange SlideUnlock application from here. Choose your background and adjust the settings your own way. Note that this is a separate app that has nothing whatever to do with what ‘makes’ Symbian an iPhone. Set the app so that when you unlock the phone, it brings up the iPhone style unlocker.

Step 2: SPBShell iPhone edition

Buy or try the SPBShell Shell from the official website here. You might be wondering where SPBShell comes in here, but again, this app has no connection with changing the UI to the iPhone’s. It was simply used for the conversion by H.Inez

The full review on the OFFICIAL SPBShell is cooking up and you can be sure its going to be here soon. SPBShell is an amazing app even without having the iPhone edition.

Once you have successfully installed SPBShell, and registered with a legal (Or Illegal) code, the hard part begins.

Step 3: Making the folder ‘SPBShell’

1: Make a folder named ‘SPBShell’ in Memory Card/Other

2: Extract and put all files in the SPBShell folder: iPhoneUI

3: Extract, sign and install this file: Mini iPad by olek21. If you don’t know how to SIGN files, read this article: http://nokia-5530.net/sign-apps-that-give-certificate-error/

4: Set the Mini iPad theme that you just signed. Go and open SPBShell.

5: DONE!

If you ever want to change back to the normal SPBShell application, then just delete the folder SPBShell in Memory Card/Other. SPBShell is good enough on its own, and its review is coming soon…
