Scalado AB is a leading mobile imaging expert company which provides imaging softwares for the iPhone, Android and Symbian platforms. Scalado is working on improving the camera capabilities of mobile phones, and providing new features to help users enjoy taking pictures and using their mobile phone cameras more often. I have used two of the total three apps available for Symbian 1 (or S60v5) on the Ovi Store. These two apps are PhotoRama and PhotoTwister. Both are very professionally designed, but they are ‘Paid Apps’ on the store. Rest assured though, you money will not be wasted, because Scalado apps are as good as any paid app out there, and they are certainly worth it.
PhotoRama
PhotoRama can capture three photos and merge them into one. This means that you can have a wider angle of view in the pictures you take. Only three photos can be taken at a time (Much like the Panorama for Nokia N8), and they are merged together to form a larger and nicer photograph. PhotoRama is necessary for taking landscape photography or just having a larger capacity and range of pictures.
PhotoRama is very simple to operate. Just open the application and snap a photo of the surroundings. Move your device to the left or right to capture another image. A small tab on the screen automatically detects the end of the first photo, and the next one is captured, and then the next when you move correspondingly. You can also choose a size for your picture, and snap three pictures together. There are also some ‘modes’ like Macro, Hyperfocal, Infinite etc, and you can have the final picture just like you want it to be. Surprisingly, the size of the picture remains somewhat small, and although the picture is 3x larger than a normal one, it loads at the same time in the Gallery. Zooming in or out in the image is as fast and fluid as before.

Although I used a 3.2 mp Nokia 5530, the quality of the pictures is amazing. These are just like normal pics, but the merging is so professional, that it looks like just one pic, and not three merged together. The app also auto-focuses when a picture is taken.
Its certain that if you travel much around in holidays, or if you ever need to capture a group photo, this app is a must have for you.

PhotoTwister
Ever heard of FaceWrap? Well, this app is its bigger brother. PhotoTwister is the ultimate tool for ‘twisting’ pictures! The idea is to take funny pictures of people’s faces. There are lots of options on how you want somebody’s face to be. And all of them are equally cool. For example ‘Big Buppa’ will make your nose, or wherever part you focus the camera on, very thick. ‘Alien Scum’ will make your picture squishy and wobbly, like an alien. ‘Cone Head’ will make a part of the picture long and cone-shaped. ‘Jelly Belly’ will, well, make the picture look like a very jelly belly. (I got a kick on the stomach last time I took a pic of my friend with this mode. So be careful!) The special effects are great!

But this is not all. There are ten different modes altogether. Apart from that, you get 10 more options like Mirror, Sepia, Negative, Sketch etc too! The app also includes modes like Hyper-focal, Infinite etc, which make the images more amusing. You can also choose the size of your picture, like 2080×1536 or 640×480 etc.
PhotoTwister is one of the best entertainment apps available on Ovi. You can use it for hours and yet still laugh at the results. You can save the pictures and then show them to friends or upload them where everybody can see. But make sure you hold the camera steady when you’re taking a picture, because you might die laughing and spoil all the fun.
